• Wenyung wins her way to Women's NSW Open

New Zealand’s Wenyung Keh has confirmed her spot at the 2025 Women's NSW Open after a one-stroke victory at the Regional Qualifying event at Mollymook Golf Club.

The 27-year-old from Auckland finished the tournament at even par to not only take the lion's share of the $50,000 in prize money but ensure a place in the Ladies European Tour co-sanctioned event at Wollongong Golf Club next March.

Despite her strong performance, Keh admitted she was a bit uncertain coming down the final hole as she completed a second straight round of even-parr 72.

“When I was walking down 18, I actually didn’t know what was happening,” Keh said.

“I thought I was still in contention and I’d just try to birdie the last, but I had to make that six-footer for par. But it feels good, still hasn’t kicked in yet.”

As the name at the top of the leaderboard changed throughout the second round, Keh said that staying calm and collected was the key to her victory.

“I wasn’t thinking too much about the score; it was just getting the ball in play," she explained.

:I was out of position a couple of times but managed to get it back in play, so I think that’s what helped.

“It was pretty chill; it felt pretty casual, so I think that’s the best way to play golf. Nothing too serious. When we made bogeys, we didn’t get too emotional about it and just kept going and kept moving forward.”

Adding a special element to her win, Keh played in the same group as her sister, Munchin, in the final round, with the third Keh sister, Siyi, in the group behind.

“I have played with Munchin a couple of times, but it’s always nice. Kristalle (Blum) and Justice (Bosio) were good too, so we had a fun time,” she said.

Keh, who has played numerous NSW tournaments in previous years, expressed her enjoyment of the experience at Mollymook.

“We love coming back to Australia. Mollymook has been fun. It’s always a good time to come back.

Joining Keh in qualifying for the 2025 Women’s NSW Open at Wollongong is Breanna Gill, the 2023 Australian Women’s Classic Champion, who secured the second spot on a countback with a final score of 1-over.

Queensland’s Justice Bosio also finished tied for second at 1-over, while St Michael’s golfer Claire Shin, Nayeon Eum and Munchin Keh all shared fourth place at 2-over.

The next Women’s Regional Qualifying event take places at Wagga Wagga Country Club from November 20-22, where more hopefuls will vie for a coveted spot in the 2025 Women’s NSW Open.
