• Play suspended during Round 1 of the Australian Women's Classic

The Australian Women’s Classic – Bonville presented by Pacific Bay Studios has been reduced to a 36-hole tournament after day one was abandoned with just 12 groups able to begin their opening round.

The greens staff at Bonville worked tirelessly to make the course playable after more than 40 millimetres fell overnight. However, their efforts were in vain as officials were compelled to call all players from the course at 8.20am due to the increasing rain from an intense low trough.

Tournament officials explored all possible options to get competitors back on course. It was only after careful consideration that the WPGA Tour of Australasia, Ladies European Tour, and Golf NSW officials decided to call play for the day over at 2pm.

The tournament will resume tomorrow at 7.30am with players in the seven groups that already teed off to continue their rounds.

For those groups yet to tee off, tee times have been amended and updated. They will now begin Round 1 on Saturday (6 April) 50 minutes earlier than their original Friday tee time.

Of those who did get their round underway today, Denmark's Nicole Broch Estrup holds the early lead at 2-under-par after three holes. Last week's Women's NSW Open champion Maria Jose Uribe Duran of Colombia is one of four players at minus one, including  Ann Van Dam (Netherlands), Linnea Johnson (Sweden), and West Australian Kirsten Rudgeley.
