• Choi leads at halfway mark of LPGA Q-Series

Gold Coast's Robyn Choi is in prime position to play her way onto the LPGA Tour in 2024 having taken a one-shot lead into the fourth round in Alabama.

Heavy rain forced the postponement of Round 3 to Sunday with a cut of 65 and ties to be made after the fourth round is completed on Monday.

After narrowly missing out on a LPGA Tour card via the Epson Tour in , Choi leads by one at the halfway mark of the six-round LPGA Q-Series in Alabama.

A third round of 64 has given Choi a one-shot buffer from Japan's Mao Saigo, Korean Hyo Joon Jang and American Mina Harigae, who just last year finished second to Minjee Lee at the US Women's Open.

After looking certain to finish in the top 10 on the Epson Tour moneylist to earn promotion to the LPGA Tour, Choi was bumped down to 12th at the Epson Tour Championship.

Less than $3,000 separated her from 10th spot and a guaranteed LPGA Tour card but she is drawing on that disappointment this week to earn status for next year.

“It hurt when I finished 12th. At the end of the day, it was only a couple of shots if I added them up throughout the whole season,” said the 25-year-old.

“But it is what it is, and it kicks me to try really hard here. Trying really hard in golf doesn’t help either, so I’m trying to balance that out. That’s the main key for me right now.”

The top 45 and ties at the completion of the 108-hole marathon will earn LPGA Tour cards for 2024 while those who make the 72-hole cut are guaranteed status on the Epson Tour at a minimum.
