Queenslander Karis Davidson has failed to advance to the Round of 16 despite winning her match convincingly on the third day of Round Robin matches at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play in Las Vegas.

The only one of the 16 groups to require a playoff to determine who would advance to the knockout stage, Davidson kept her hopes alive with a dominant 4&3 win over Thailand’s Pajaree Anannarukarn, her second win of the week.

Despite being the last group out, Davidson and Anannarukarn then had to wait for the match between Mina Harigae and Xiyu Lin to be completed to determine whether Harigae would also qualify for the playoff.

Harigae three-putted the 18th green to halve the final hole with Lin, not enough to add her name to the playoff combatants.

With the fairways at Shadow Creek firm and fast, both Anannarukarn and Davidson got unlucky with their tee shots at the first extra hole.

Anannarukarn’s tee shot finished in the centre of a sizeable divot in the first cut of rough as Davidson’s ball ran through and sunk down into the heavier rough.

Anannarukarn found the green with her approach and would two-putt for par, Davidson unable to get up and down after missing the green on the high side to the right.

Earlier, Davidson never trailed in her win over the previously undefeated Anannarukarn.

A par at the par-4 third put her 1 up and after Anannarukarn squared the ledger at the next hole Davidson won both the fifth and sixth holes to move 2 up.

Anannarukarn won both the eighth and ninth holes to once again bring the match back level at the halfway mark before Davidson took control.

Par at the par-4 11th once again gave the Aussie the ascendancy before she won three straight holes from the par-3 13th to close out her second win of the week.

Fellow Australian Sarah Kemp suffered her third loss of the week on the final day of Round Robin matches but wasn’t decided until the 18th green.

Facing off against Peiyun Chien, Kemp didn’t trail until the 16th hole but was never more than 1 up on her opponent.

She parred the first to earn an early edge but Chien would invariably hit back at the next, Kemp only holding the lead for two holes straight once on the front nine.

The match was square at the turn before Kemp again moved 1 up with a par at the par-4 10th.

Chien turned the tables with wins at the 14th and 16th holes to move 1 up but Kemp’s par at the par-3 17th was enough to send the match to the 18th tee all square where Chien closed out a 1 up win with a final birdie.

At the Epson Tour’s Inova Mission Inn Resort and Club Championship in Florida Gabriela Ruffels is in a tie for 10th but five strokes off the lead following Round 1 in Florida.

A two-time winner already this season, Ruffels had seven birdies and two double bogeys in her round of 2-under 71, one of 10 players five back of Korea’s Jiwon Jeon (66).

Robyn Choi is tied for 20th at 1-under 72 with Sarah Jane Smith, Hira Naveed and Kiwi Amelia Garvey all in a tie for 45th at 1-over 74.

Sweden’s Anna Magnusson leads after Round 1 of the Belgian Ladies Open on the Ladies European Tour after a round of 6-under 66.

New Zealand’s Momoka Kobori is in a tie for 16th following her round of 2-under 70, Whitney Hillier’s 2-over 74 the best of the Aussies.
