Win or go home. It’s sudden death for Karis Davidson as she enters Round 3 of Round Robin play at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.
A dominant 5&4 winner over China’s Xiyu Lin on day one, Davidson suffered a 2 down defeat at the hands of Mina Harigae in her second match in Group 4.
The top finisher in each of the 16 groups will advance to the knockout stage and the equation for Davidson is simple.
Up against undefeated Thai Pajaree Anannarukarn, a win would see Davidson and Anannarukarn finish level with two wins. Harigae is also still alive but would need to defeat Lin to also enter playoff calculations.
Anannarukarn is one of 10 players to remain undefeated through two rounds, the 23-year-old currently ranked No.97 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking.
Sarah Kemp is the only other Australian in the field in Las Vegas but after two defeats is no chance of moving out of the round robin phase.
In Round 1 Kemp was defeated 3&2 by Cheyenne Knight and then suffered a narrow 2&1 loss to Korea’s Sei Young Kim on day two.
