West Australian Kirsten Rudgeley produced one of the best scores of the final round to earn a second Ladies European Tour top-10 at the Aramco Team Series – Florida at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
Spain’s Carlota Ciganda (73) won the individual title by one stroke with a two-under total from Klara Davidson Spilkova (74) with New Zealand’s Lydia Ko (73) sharing third spot with England’s Olivia Cowan (68) at even par.
A front nine that featured four straight birdies provided the foundation for Rudgeley’s round of three-under 69, a score bettered by only two players, Cowan and fellow Australian Stephanie Kyriacou.
Tied for 13th a week ago at the Jabra Ladies Open, Rudgeley’s tie for 10th adds to her eighth-place finish at the Joburg Ladies European that served as her first event as a member of the LET.
She now sits 31st in the Race to Costa Del Sol ranking and is fourth in the Rookie of the Year standings.
Posting the equal best round of the day led to a jump of 39 spots from 54th to a tie for 15th for Kyriacou.
An outward nine of even-par 36 with one birdie and one bogey gave little indication of the birdie barrage she would unleash on her way to the clubhouse.
She picked up a shot at the par-3 11th and then reeled off three straight from the par-4 14th to surge up the leaderboard.
Rain forced a premature end to the Epson Tour event also being played in Florida.
The cancellation of the third and final round meant that Robyn Choi was unable to improve on her position of a tie for 17th, Sarah Jane Smith also stuck in her overnight position of tied for 23rd.
Last Friday also see the conclusion to the second event in the TrustGolf Thailand Mixed series.
Unfortunately no WPGA members advanced past Round 2 in the Thailand Mixed Stableford Challenge where Liam Georgiadis was the best-placed Australian in a tie for 16th.
