Queensland rookie Rhianna Lewis will look to make her mark on the international stage when she tees it up in the TrustGolf Thailand Mixed event starting Thursday in Thailand.
Under a new co-sanctioning agreement between TrustGolf and the WPGA Tour of Australasia, the door has been opened to WPGA members to take part in five mixed events between May and September.
An invitation has also been extended to members of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia, which has paved the way for the likes of PNG Open champion Lachlan Barker, Queensland’s Shae Wools-Cobb, New South Welshman Matthew Stieger and Victorian Lachlan Armour to also play this week.
A graduate of the WPGA Qualifying School at Coolangatta-Tweed Heads Golf Club in January, Lewis has shown consistent improvement across the season thus far.
She missed the cut at both TPS Victoria and TPS Murray River before logging a tie for 29th at the Vic Open.
She shot 65 in the second round at TPS Sydney to make the cut at Bonnie Doon and followed that up a week later with a tie for 38th at TPS Hunter Valley.
A tie for second at the Wagga Wagga Pro-Am would be her best result of the year, finishing tied for 30th at the Women’s NSW Open and tied 18th at the Australian Women’s Classic at Bonville a week later.
Also flying the Aussie flag this week in Thailand are Steffanie Vogel and Celina Yuan.
A PGA Associate at Cobram Barooga Golf Club on the Murray River, Vogel has played six TPS events across the past two years while Celina Yuan is looking to re-establish herself after spending a year on the Epson Tour in 2018 and qualifying to play on the Ladies European Tour at just 17 years of age.
Other WPGA members in the field this week include Kiwi sisters Munchin and Siyi Keh, Elmay Viking and Danielle Price.
