It is with great sadness that the WPGA Tour announces that one of its Founding Members, Mrs Sheri Wright, passed away on the 19th of June 2022 following a long battle with lung cancer.
Miss Sheri Goodman, who originally hailed from the state of Kansas in the USA, first travelled to Australia to play on the fledgling "ALPGA Tour" back in 1972.
Miss Goodman fell in love with Australia during her travels competing in the inaugural ALPGA series of events, and after marrying Neville Wright, a union which lasted almost 50 years, lived happily in Kilcunda, Victoria until her passing.
In addition to competing on the ALPGA Tour, Miss Goodman also took on the role of Executive Director in 1974, a position she held until 1979.
In February 2016, Mrs. Wright was bestowed with WPGA Tour Life Membership, along with her eleven fellow Founding Members.
Mrs. Wright leaves behind her husband, Neville, brothers Victor and Steven Goodman, uncle Jim Hooten, nephew Chris Goodman, nieces Kimberly Gilfillan and Melissa Goodman, along with five grand-nephews and one grand-niece.
The WPGA Tour would like to extend its sincerest condolences to all of Mrs. Wright's family and friends.
Mrs. Wright's compassion for others and her independent spirit is a legacy for all her family and friends, never forgotten.
