After a five month hiatus The Ladies European Tour will finally be back in action later today when the Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open kicks off at The Renaissance Club in North Berwick.
The LET will be joined once again by the LPGA for what will be the fourth staging of the co-sanctioned event, the Womens Scottish Open was first played on the LET in 1986.
While the tournament will be the first for the LET since the Investec Women’s South African Open in March, the tournament will mark the first international event on the LPGA Tour since the Women’s Australian Open back in February.

For a fourth consecutive year, the Ladies Scottish Open will be contested at the same course as the men’s European Tour’s Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open, which will be played in October

Eight Australians are amongst the 144 players who will tee it up later today for their share of the U$1.5 million prizemoney on offer.
Minjee Lee is in hot form coming off two top four finishes in the back to back LPGA events held the past two week in the USA, while Hannah Green, Su Oh, Whitney Hillier and 2020 Australian Ladies Classic winner Steph Kyriakou will be competing in their first major events since the ALPG Tour events held earlier this year.
They are joined in the field by compatriots Sarah Jane Smith, Katherine Kirk and Sarah Kemp.

Lee has shown an affinity for competing on links courses in recent years, she is a total of 25-under-par for this tournament the past three year which is 5 shots better than any other player, and said at her press conference yesterday she’s been waiting for this week’s event on her calendar for some time.

“I really enjoy playing links golf. So Scottish Open was never off my schedule. I come here every single year that it`s been an LPGA event and I really enjoy it,” said Lee, who has finished in the top 10 of the Ladies Scottish Open since 2017.

The Australian said she is feeling good about where her game is heading after two solid finishes the past two weeks. During the LPGA Tour’s hiatus, Lee said she focused on her swing, working hard on her ball-striking, in particular on her driving and her putting. She believes her hard work and improvement will continue to show as she adjusts to links golf in Scotland.

“I feel like I`ve been hitting it pretty solid and like I was talking about the first week, I was trying to work a little bit on my putting,” said Lee. “Over here it`s a little bit different because it`s slightly slower greens and probably you`ve got to play a little bit more of the wind. Just a little bit different conditions and trying to adjust to that.”

The 2019 Aberdeen Standard Investments Ladies Scottish Open champion MJ Hur will not defend her title this week at The Renaissance Club, opting to remain home in Korea due to travel concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
