Philippine star Dottie Ardina shot a superb 5-under par opening round of 68 today at Moss Vale Golf Club to lead at the halfway mark of the Aoyuan International Moss Vale Pro-am.
Ardina, who played in the more favourable morning conditions, played solidly on the front nine to make the turn in 36, 1-under par. On the back nine, the 26-year-old kicked up a gear, making birdies at 10, 12 and 13 to get to 4-under par, before another birdie at the long par 5 17th hole her moved her to 5-under par for the round where she would finish the day.
Ardina will head into tomorrow’s second and final round with a two-shot lead over a group of five players, including Sydney based Australian players Paige Stubbs and Chizuru Ueda.
The final round will get underway at 7:00 am on Wednesday morning with 62 professionals from 20 countries vying for a share of the $30,000 prizemoney on offer.
