Germany`s Laura Fuensteuck followed up her stellar rookie season on the Ladies European Tour in 2019 with a win today on the ALPG Tour at the Windaroo Lakes ALPG Tour Pro-am.
The 25-year-old bagged 12 top-20 finishes on the Ladies European Tour in 2019 to finish ninth on the end of season Order of Merit, and teed off this morning in the swelteringly hot and humid conditions looking to start her season on a strong note.
The German teed off from the 8th hole in this morning’s shotgun start format, and at the halfway mark in her round was 3 under par before stumbling briefly with a bogey at the difficult par 17th hole to drop back to 2-under through 11 holes.
However Fuenfsteuck unleashed from her 12th hole with a birdie, backed up superbly with an eagle at the par 4 11th hole, where she holed out from 143metres with a 7 iron to take her to 5 under par. There was more to come with another birdie at the par 4 6th hole to get Fuenfsteuck to 6- under par where she would finish the round, signing for an impressive 6-under par 67 to seal the victory,
Fuensteuck said “This is a great way to start my season with a win, I am still hoping that I can qualify for the Aussie and Vic Opens through the ALPG rankings and this is a great start for me. I have a chance to do that now if I keep playing well\"
From Windaroo Lakes the ALPG Tour will head down the M1 to New South Wales for the 2nd event of the 2020 ALPG ClubCar Series, the Findex Yamba Pro-am to be held on Friday 24th January, where 84 professionals from 24 different countries will assemble for the $20,000 prizemoney on offer.
