Australian number 1 Minjee Lee will head into this week’s CME Group Tour Championship knowing that she has a rare opportunity to do what no other Australian Woman apart from Karrie Webb has done in winning the prestigious LPGA Money List title.

Culminating what has been been a scintillating season-long Race to the CME Globe on the LPGA Tour in 2019, the leading 60 players in the Race to the CME Globe points table will tee it up this week at the Tiburón Resort in Naples, Florida for with total prizemoney of US$5million. The tournament will be played over 72 holes from Thursday 21^st to Sunday 24^th November.  

While Lee’s performances in 2019 in many ways have been overshadowed by the incredible achievements of her West Australian compatriot Hannah Green, with the first prize cheque on offer of US$1.5million this week Lee and a handful of others are still mathematically in the race to win the 2019 LPGA Money List title.

World Number 1 Jin Young Ko, who has already wrapped up Rolex Player of the Year and will likely win the Vare Trophy for lowest scoring average, remains firmly entrenched in the driver’s seat for the Money title with a lead of some US$721,791 over current number 2 Jeongeun Lee6 for the, with Lee in 5^th place trailing Ko by US$1.205m.
Lee’s task is on paper quite straightforward, should she take home the trophy and massive winner’s cheque this weekend and Ko finishes in worse than third place, the 2019 LPGA Money title would belong to an Australian for the first since Webb’s secured her third Money List title back in 2000.
While Ko has been simply sensational in 2019, boasting four victories, including major victories at the ANA Inspiration and the Evian Championship, clearly she still has some work to do this week.

There is no doubt that Minjee Lee has been the quiet achiever of the LPGA Tour in 2019, she took out this year’s HUGEL-AIR PREMIA LA Open and boasts seven other top-ten finishes including four-second place finishes.
This year Lee was No. 3 on the Race to the CM points table, is currently No. 5 on both the Rolex Rankings and the LPGA Money List and No. 8 in Player of the Year points.

Lee, in just her fifth year on the LPGA Tour has five career LPGA victories to her credit, and highlighting the 23-year-old’s incredible consistency in just 134 career LPGA starts she has finished in the top-10 on 43 occasions, including eight second-place finishes and seven thirds.

Of the other Aussies in the field this week, Hannah Green has the chance to cap off an incredible 2019 season where she won the KPMG Women`s PGA Championship followed up by another victory at the Cambia Portland Classic, while Katherine Kirk and Su Oh both have the chance to celebrate Christmas in style with a win which would top off solid if unspectacular LPGA Tour seasons for both players.

Kirk will tee off at 7:30 am local time alongside Swedish Solheim Cup star Anna Nordqvist and former World Number 1 Stacy Lewis.

Oh will tee off at 9:30 am local time alongside German Caroline Masson and Mexican Gaby Lopez.

Green will tee off at 10:06 am local time, alongside former US Open Champion Eun Hee Ji and Spanish star Azahara Munoz.

Lee will tee off in the final group at 11:18 am alongside world number 1 Jin Young Ko and Canadian superstar Brooke Henderson
