The ALPG is heading to Auckland, New Zealand, for the second event of the season with the ladies to tee it up at the eleventh NZPWG Pro-Am in memory of Anita Boon on 13th and 14th of October.
Remuera Golf Club will play host to the event for the second year, and features a line-up of 29 professionals from Australia, New Zealand and the Cook Islands. Amateur players will have the opportunity to play alongside the next generation of talented female players.
Coming off an impressive season on the China LPGA, Hanee Song from Auckland is in form to defend her title over the two-day event. Along with being 10th on the China LPGA Order of Merit, Song currently leads the ALPG Order of Merit for the new season.
However, the local favourite will have some stiff competition with the likes of Whitney Hillier in the field. The Western Australian’s recent string of performances on the Ladies European Tour, which includes a 4th place finish at he Hero Women’s Indian Open this past week, will have her in good stead to take home her second ALPG victory.
Also vying for the title are tour players Liv Cheng and Munchin Keh, as well as World Long Drive Champion Phillis Meti.
The NZPWG Pro-Am will once again support Look Good Feel Better the charity set up to help women through cancer treatment. The event also fundraises for the KFC Golf Scholarship which helps support NZ professional women golfers to take their careers to the next level.
ALPG Tour CEO Karen Lunn says, “Thanks to the ongoing support of our sponsors KFC New Zealand and Coca-Cola, the NZPWG Pro-Am event can raise valuable funds for charity and support New Zealand`s future golfing stars.
“Anita Boon was a wonderful person who touched many hearts; I am sure she would be delighted this event has stood the test of time which is a testament to the hard work the NZPWG have put in to ensure its future.”
