• Zhang stays in charge at Trust Golf Thailand LPGA Masters

Chinese star Zhang Weiwei will take a two-shot lead into tomorrow’s final round of the Trust Golf Thailand LPGA Masters at the Panya Indra Golf Club just outside of Bangkok.

The 22-year old had held a three-shot lead heading into today’s second round after her superb opening round of 65, and did nothing to harm her chances of a record 4th China LPGA title of 2019 after firing a second-round 2-under par 70 to sit at 9-under-par.

Sitting just two shots back is Thai star Patcharajutar Kongkrapan, who fired a superb second round 65 to go with her opening 2-under par 70 and sits alone in second place at -7.
A further two shots back sitting at -5 are Thai stars Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras and Chonlada Chayanun who both shot second rounds of 70.

Due to a two hour suspension of play mid-afternoon because of thunderstorms in the area, when play was halted due to darkness at 6:30pm twelve players had not completed their second round and will return on Friday morning to finish.

The tournament looks to be a battle between the Chinese and Thai players, with six Thai players and four Chinese players rounding out the tournament’s top-10.

Of the ALPG members in the field this week Kiwi Hanee Song currently leads the way at 1-under-par sitting in a tie for 12th place.

The cut to the leading 50 professional players plus ties will be made on completion of the second round on Friday morning, the final round will get underway no earlier than 8:00am local time.
