• Whitney Hillier captures first ALPG title at Aveo Brisbane Invitational

West Australian Whitney Hillier shot a superb 5-under par round of 69 to claim her first ALPG title today, at the fifth edition of the Brisbane Invitational at McLeod Country Golf Club in Brisbane.

Playing in the cooler morning conditions, Hillier made a solid start with pars at the first three holes before a bogey at the par 4 fourth hole saw her slip into black figures. A birdie at the par 3 6th hole got Hillier back to all square, and another at the par 5 9th hole saw her make the turn in 36, 1-under par.
Hiller made solid pars at the 10th, 11th and 12th holes before playing her last 6 holes in 4 under par to secure the victory.

The 28-year-old was clearly delighted with finally claiming her first ALPG title, especially after 5-second place finishes and a hat-full of top-ten finishes in recent years.

The win also puts Hillier into contention for the 2019 ALPG ClubCar Series, where she now sits in second place just 12.5 points ahead of current leader Celine Yuan. The ClubCar Series will be decided following the final event on the 2019 ALPG Tour, the Findex Yamba ALPG Pro-am to be held this Friday 22nd March.

New South Welshwoman Paige Stubbs finished in a tie for second place with Breanna Gill after both players shot 3-under par rounds of 71, and dashed quickly to Brisbane airport to catch a flight to China where she will be teeing it up this week at the Hengqin Phoenix Tree Building Orient Golf Challenge on the China LPGA Tour.

In a tie for fourth place at 2-under par were Kiwi Chantelle Cassidy, QLD native Katelyn Must and the NSW duo of Rebecca Artis and Celina Yuan, while defending champion, Englishwoman Felicity Johnson finished a shot further back at 1-under.
