American Brooke Baker shot a second round 1 under par 71 in today`s final round of the Sheraton Deva New Caledonia International Women`s Pro-am to take out her first ALPG title.
Baker had started the day just two shots off the lead held by New Caledonian amateur star Emilie Ricard, and after an hour delay due to thunderstorms in the area was off to a solid start with pars at each of her opening 8 holes on the testing Sheration Deva layout.
The turning point of the tournament came at the 9th hole, where Baker holed out for an eagle to set the tone for the rest of the round, and the Florida resident cruised to a three-shot victory adding a 71 to her opening 1-over round of 73 to finish at even par.
The 29-year-old, who hails from Edmond, Oklahoma, is in her third season on the ALPG Tour and was delighted to secure her first professional victory in what is one of the most beautiful settings imaginable at the magnificent Sheraton Deva Resort.
\"I just love this place and so excited to get the win here. I would like to thank all of the staff here at Sheraton Deva for all of the hard work they have put in, and all of the amateur players who have supported this fantastic tournament. The resort here is amazing, the golf course is awesome and the people here are just so welcoming.\"
Rising star Ricard finished alone in second place at +3 after a second round 76, while Sydney`s Chizuru Ueda secured her best ever ALPG finish securing third place a shot further back. Celina Yuan and Chantelle Cassidy finished in a tie for fourth place at +5
