• Green bounces back into contention at Bonville

West Australian Hannah Green started today`s third round of the Pacific Bay Resort Australian Ladies Classic Bonville five shots off the overnight lead held by Spaniard Nuria Iturrios, and when the 22-year-old made a double bogey at the opening hole this morning many thought her title chances had vanished.

However, Green has an old head on her young shoulders and is never one to throw in the towel, and she bounced back impressively with birdies at the 4th, 5th and 7th holes to make the turn in 34. Another birdie at the par 4 15th hole saw Green move to within one shot of the lead, and she would par in from there to shoot a 2-under par 70 for a two-round total of 5-under par.

“It was not the start I wanted obviously which was pretty tough,” Green said of the opening hole, “but I ws happy with how I recovered the next couple of holes making some birdies.
“It was a tough day, but I felt like even though I shot two-under, I didn’t play as well as I could have.
“I have kind of mixed feelings about the day. Partly happy to be under par but partly disappointed not to have scored better.”

Overnight leader Nuria Iturrios also struggled early on but fought hard on the back nine to shoot a 3-over 75 and keep herself in contention at -5, tied in second place with Green and Norwegian star Marianne Skarpnord.

Sydney amateur Doey Choi is another who is well in contention heading into the final round sitting alone in 5th place at -4. Should Choi win she would be offered a three-year exemption onto the Ladies European Tour should she decide to turn professional, and would be guaranteed starts in all events in 2019 including the Women`s British Open and Evian Championships held later in the year.

Tomorrow`s final round sets up to be a closely fought contest, in all, there are fourteen players within 6 shots of the lead

The final round will get underway tomorrow morning at 7:05 am from the 1st and 9th tees with the final group teeing off from the first tee at 9:05 am
