Top class field assembled for Ballarat Icons ALPG Pro-am
The 2019 ALPG Tour ClubCar Series will get underway tomorrow at the ALPG Ballarat Icons Pro-am to be played at Ballarat Golf Club in Victoria’s Goldfields. The prizemoney for the two-day pro-am will be $30,000, with the winner in with a great chance of securing a start in next week’s ISPS Handa Vic Open. A strong field will be assembled for the pro-am, with 80 professionals from nineteen different countries competing, including defending champion, Chinese star Xiyu Lin, former world number 1 Dame Laura Davies and winner of the ALPG Qualifying Tournament earlier in the week, Tsai Peiying from Taiwan. Ten other players who are competing over the weekend have won tournaments on the world’s major women’s tours; Beth Allen (USA) Lydia Hall (Wales), Hannah Burke (England), Kylie Henry (Scotland), Liv Cheng (NZ), Marianne Skarpnord (Norway), Felicity Johnson (England), XiYi Lin (China,) and Australians Stacey Peters and Rebecca Artis. There will be four Olympians in the field; Skarpnord, Lin, Christine Wolf from Austria and Chloe Leurquin from Belgium, and they will be joined by star Victorian amateurs who will look to test themselves against the professional field. The title of the pro-am, the ALPG Ballarat Icons Pro-am reflects the group of local iconic Ballarat businesses who collectively are the title sponsors including Gull and Company Estate Agents, JG King Homes and Integra. The morning field, which will include Laura Davies will tee off in a shotgun start format at 7:30am, while the afternoon field will tee off at 12:30pm. Spectators are most welcome and entry is free.
