• Peiying in box seat at ALPG Qualifying after course record 65

Taiwanese native Tsai Peiying shot a stunning course record 7 under par 65 to take a 3-shot lead into the second round of the inaugural ALPG Qualifying Tournament at Ballarat Golf Club today.
Peiying, a 3-time winner on her home tour, the LPGA Tour of Taiwan, came into the event full of confidence having finished second two weeks ago at the Taiwan Women’s Open, and showed her class producing an almost flawless display of golf in the breezy afternoon conditions.

The 27-year-old, who has spent much of the past three years playing on the lucrative LPGA of Japan Tour started this afternoon from the par 5 10th hole, and was quickly into stride with a birdie, followed by her only bogey of the day at the long par 3 11th hole.
More birdies were to come at 12 and 13 followed by four straight birdies from the 17th hole, which saw her Peiying 6 under par for the round through just 11 holes, before using all of her experience to cruise home signing for a 65.

Tied for second place is a group of two players, American Brooke Baker and Englishwoman Rosie Davies, while Elmay Viking from the Cook Islands was a further shot back after a 3-under par 69.

Eighty-one players teed it up this morning in the ALPG Qualifying Tournament, with players competing for exemptions into the ISPS Handa Vic Open, ISPS HandaWomens Australian Open, The Australian Ladies Classic Bonville, the ActewAGL Canberra Classic and the Women`s NSW Open.
