• Parinda Phokan strolls to PTT Thailand Masters win

Local star Parinda Phokan strolled to a six-shot victory over promising Thai amateur Kultida Pramphun at the PTT Thailand Masters in Bangkok today, after shooting an impressive final round 69 to finish at 15-under-par.

Phokan, who was runner-up at this event in 2017 and the number 1 ranked player on the Thai LPGA Tour in 2017, started the day with a commanding four-shot lead over her compatriot, talented 18-year-old Thai rookie Waralee Atcharerk. Phokan made a solid start to her final round with pars at each of her first four holes before slipping up with a bogey at the par 4 5th hole, while her
playing partner Atcharerk found herself quickly out of contention after making a disastrous double-bogey at the opening hole followed shortly after by a bogey at the 3rd hole.

Phokan bounced straight back from her bogey at the 5th hole making birdies at the 6th and 7th holes making the turn in one-under-par 35, maintaining her healthy lead heading into the back nine. No-one was able to threaten Thai`s lead and the youngster, who hails from Khon Kaen province strolled home shooting a 69 for a 6 shot victory.

Phokan has been busy in 2018 floating between the LPGA Tours of China, Taiwan and Korea, and the 21-year-old will now take a break before heading to the qualifying school for the 2019 LPGA of Japan Tour.
Talented 17-year-old Kultida Pramphun, who shot a superb final round 67 to finish alone in 2nd place at 8-under-par is clearly a player to watch in the future, while Thai star Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras shot a four-under-par 68 to finish in a tie for 3rd place with Korean Jee Hin Park and New Zealand`s Munchin Keh at 7-under-par.

Tahnia Ravnjak was the leading Australian after shooting a final round 71 which included 6 birdies to finish the tournament at 2-over-par.
