The pairings have been released for day one of the 2017 Queens Cup presented Kowa, and Team ALPG have some exciting matches to look forward to.
The format of the matches on day one will be team fourball best ball matchplay, and will begin at 9:00am local time. The tournament will be played over three days, with singles matchplay on day 2 and foursomes matchplay on the final day. The defending champions from the Korean LPGA Tour will once again start as the tournament favourites.
In the ALPG`s opening match at 9:12 am local time, Captain Karrie Webb will team up with Western Australian rookie sensation Hannah Green, and there is no doubt the pair will have their work cut out playing against the Korean LPGA pairing of Ji - Hyun Oh and Jin-Young Ko, recently a winner of the LPGA KEB–Hana Bank Championship in October.
Team ALPG`s second match will go out at 9:24 am, where Victorian Stacey Peters will team up with Kiwi Cathryn Bristow, the pair taking on the Ladies European Team of England`s Felicity Johnson and South African Lee-Anne Pace.
Third match out for Team ALPG at 9:48 am will be Queensland`s Sarah Jane Smith and New South Welshwoman Sarah Kemp, who will play against the Japanese pairing of Yukari Nishiyama and Momoko Ueda.
The final match teeing off at 10:24 am will see Katherine Kirk, winner of the Thornberry Classic on the LPGA Tour earlier in 2017 teaming up with West Australian Whitney Hillier, the duo taking on the Japanese pairing of Ai Suzuki and Fumika Kawagishi.
The Queens presented by Kowa -The tournament is a three-day match play event featuring four teams of nine players. Each team shall be allocated points in accordance with its respective match results, with 2 points for a win, 1 point for a half and 0 points for a loss.
The format of play for day one (Friday) will be eight four-ball matches, while day two (Saturday) will feature 18 singles matches. The first and second day’s play will be known as “Qualifying Rounds\". Based on the points’ totals from the first two days, the third day’s play will see “The Championship Final” contested by the first and second placed teams over four foursome matches, as well as the “Third place final” between the third and fourth placed teams, played over four foursome matches.
