On a picture perfect winter`s day in Queensland, Breanna Gill made the long journey from West Australia a worthwhile one by taking the halfway lead at the Mercedes-Benz Cairns Classic.

The Perth resident shot a two under par round of 69 on the challenging Paradise Palms layout to lead Byron Bay`s Jessica Cowie by one stroke, with Gold Coaster Amy Walsh the next best at 2 over par. Lurking a further shot back at 3 over par is 3-time ALPG winner New Zealand`s Cathryn Bristow.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz Cairns Classic is a landmark occasion for professional golf in Australia, being the first time that The ALPG Tour, The PGA of Australia and The Legends Tour have played a tournament at the same venue.
