The 2017 ALPG tour and ALPG ClubCar Series finale will take place tomorrow at one of the jewels in the crown of Australian Golf, the magnificent Yamba Golf and Country Club on the Northern NSW Coast.
The BWAC Regional Employment Services pro-am will take place in Yamba for the fourth consecutive year with 43 professionals from eleven different countries competing for $20,000 in prizemoney.
In addition to the tournament proper the pro-am will see the culmination of the 2017 ALPG ClubCar Series, whereby $15,000 in bonuses will be paid out to the leading 5 players across 8 events which started at the Mulpha Norwest Pro-am at Castle Hill Country Club in Sydney’s West in mid-January.
West Australian rookie sensation Hannah Green currently leads the standings, with Gold Coast based Rebecca Artis the only player who can catch Green with a win tomorrow.
The other sub-plot which will unfold tomorrow is what the players have nicknamed “The McYamba Cup, which is a $5000 bonus which will be awarded to the leading money winner from Wednesday’s Brisbane Invitational at McLeod Country Golf Club and tomorrow’s Pro-am. The red-hot favourite to lift the trophy is Sunshine Coaster Ellen Davies-Graham who was the winner at McLeod, with the runners-up Emily McLennan, Whitney Hillier, Jessica Cowie and Norwegian Tonje Daffinrud all in with a shout with a strong finish tomorrow.
The defending champion from 2016 Katelyn Must, who defeated ALPG star Stacey Keating in a sudden-death playoff last year will start as another of the favourites, as will the newly married Stacey Peters (nee Keating) New South Welshwoman Sarah Kemp and South Australian Stephanie Na.
Tomorrow’s round tees off at 7:30 at Yamba Golf and Country Club, entry is free and spectators are welcome.
