Hannah Green has claimed her first professional victory at only her 2nd start when she defeated fellow West Australian Whitney Hillier in a three hole playoff to take the GoldKey Financial ALPG Pro-am at Pennant Hills Golf Club today.

Green had held the first round lead after an opening 5 under par round of 68 yesterday, and backed that up with a solid second round of 70 to take the clubhouse lead at 8 under par. Hillier, who had started the day a shot back from Green shot her second successive round of 69 to join her at 8 under par and force a sudden-death playoff.

The two West Australians headed back to the picturesque par-3 18th hole for the playoff, with both players making solid pars on the first two playoff holes.
The third time round Green hit a superb 9 iron to 2 metres from the pin after Hillier had safely found the green. Hillier narrowly missed her birdie putt from 10 metres and Green was left with a putt for the title, which she calmly holed before hugging her compatriot Hillier and being sprayed with champagne from her fellow players in celebration.

The 20-year-old was clearly delighted with her first professional victory, which would also seal a place in the Oates Victorian Open field in two weeks time.

Green, who only turned professional in October last year has long been touted a star of the future, having been a member of Golf Australia`s national squad and now their Rookie Programme. She shares the same coach as Australia`s number one female player Minjee Lee, and her goal is to join Lee on the LPGA Tour in 2018 through competing this year on the Symetra Tour, which is the LPGA`s secondary tour known as the \"Road to the LPGA\"

Today’s win has come as no surprise to those who have been following Green’s career in the amateur space, as her performances on the ALPG Tour the past few seasons have certainly shown that she has the pedigree to compete in the professional ranks. She finished 2nd at the ISPS Handa NZ Women`s Open to world number 1 Lydia Ko in 2015, and on the ALPG Tour in 2016 Green finished in the top 20 in all 4 of the ALPG`s major tournaments.

The ALPG Tour and its players will take a break for the weekend before heading to Oatlands Golf Club for the Oatlands ALPG Pro-am on Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th January, which will be the third event in the 2017 ALPG Club Car Series.
