Former leading amateur and ALPG rookie Hannah Green will take a 1 shot lead into tomorrow`s final round of the Goldkey Financial Pennant Hills Pro-am, after shooting a superb 5 under par round of 68.
On a day of low scoring, fellow Western Australian Whitney Hillier, Englishwoman Felicity Johnson and Belgian Manon De Roey all shot 4 under par rounds of 69, and will no doubt be chasing hard knowing in the back of their minds that a player of Green`s class is unlikely to take a step backwards tomorrow.
The powerful 20-year-old, who only turned professional in December last year has long been touted a star of the future, having been a member of Golf Australia`s national squad and now their Rookie Programme. She shares the same coach as Australia`s number one female player Minjee Lee, and her goal is to join Lee on the LPGA Tour in 2018 through competing this year on the Symetra Tour, which is the LPGA`s secondary tour known as the \"Road to the LPGA\"
Green`s performances on the ALPG Tour the past few seasons while competing as an amateur have certainly shown that she has the class to compete in the professional ranks. She finished 2nd at the ISPS Handa NZ Women`s Open to world number 1 Lydia Ko in 2015, and on the ALPG Tour in 2016 Green finished in the top 20 in all 4 of the ALPG`s major tournaments.
In total there are 37 players at even par or better which sets up for a thrilling final round tomorrow.
