• 2017 ALPG Tour kicks off at Mulpha Norwest Pro-am

The 2017 ALPG Tour gets underway tomorrow when 84 professionals from seventeen different countries will tee it up at Castle Hill Country Club in Sydney’s west for the 2017 Mulpha Norwest ALPG Pro-am. The pro-am, which is also the opening event of the 2017 ALPG Club Car Series, is the first of three which be held in the Sydney area in the next 10 days, and given the quality of the field should be a low scoring affair despite the 40 degree plus heat wave temperatures which are forecast.

The defending champion, New Zealand’s Cathryn Bristow, who shot a superb 7 under par 67 in 2016 to win by a shot from Sydney’s Lauren Hibbert, will again start as one of the favourites for the 18-hole pro-am which boasts prize money of AUD$25,000.
Other players expected to contend are Aussie stars Sarah Kemp, Rebecca Artis, Whitney Hillier, Sarah Oh, Nikki Garrett and the newly wed Stacey Peters (nee Keating). The Mulpha Norwest champion from 2015, Frenchwoman Marion Ricordeau is also in the field along with 2016 Rio Olympians Christine Wolf, Chloe Leurquin and Marianne Skarpnord.
In addition, Phillis Meti, the 2016 World Women’s Long Drive Champion will no doubt have heads turning as she makes her first professional start in Australia since her victory.

Two promising ALPG rookies who could surprise their more credentialed counterparts are former number one ranked amateur Hannah Green and Sydneysider Liz Elmassian.

Play tomorrow will be in two waves, with the morning shotgun starting at 7am and the afternoon shotgun starting at 1pm.

Entry is free for those wishing to come and spectate.
