Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras shot a superb final round 67 to take out the Idemitsi SAT Thailand LPGA Masters title by 3 shots at the Panya Indra Golf Club in Bangkok today. Thanapolboonyaras started the final round tied for the lead with compatriot Budsabakorn Sukapan at 7 under par and played a flawless round of golf to finish at 12 under par, which was good enough to keep the challengers at bay, including Benyapa Niphatsophon who finished alone in second place after herself shooting a superb final round of 66 to finish at 9 under par.
Eighteen-year-old Thanapolboonyaran, who like Niphatsophon and Sukapan has been plying her trade in 2016 as a rookie on the US LPGA Tour, came home to Bangkok in fine form after finishing in a tie for 22nd at the Manulife Classic in Canada in her last outing sending a clear message that she would be the player to beat this week. The young Thai star was delighted to capture her first professional victory after finishing in 9th place in this event in 2015.
World number 2 Ariya Jutanagarn made a special visit to Panya Indra GC today to present the winner with flowers, a fantastic gesture from the young Thai superstar who was awarded life membership of the Thailand LPGA for her outstanding achievements in 2016.
The leading ALPG player was Canada`s Kyla Inaba who finished tied for 9th place, Paige Stubbs finished tied for 43rd, while Grace Lennon and Vicky Thomas both finished tied for 53rd place.
