Queensland’s Katelyn Must won her first ALPG title after emerging victorious after a sudden death playoff against Victorian star Stacey Keating and talented Norwegian Tonje Daffinrud . The gifted trio had earlier all posted 4 under par rounds of 69 on the demanding Yamba Golf Club layout.

On the first playoff hole all three players safely found the green on the 140 metre par 3, Must hitting a solid 8 iron to the centre of the green. Daffinrud was the first to putt from 15 metres and narrowly  missed her birdie chance, leaving the stage open for Must who holed for birdie from 10 metres.
Stacey Keating, winner of the Brisbane International two days ago failed to hole her birdie putt from nine metres and the 2016 BWAC Employment and Community Services ALPG pro-am title belonged to Katelyn Must.

The 25 year old, who originally hails from Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast was obviously delighted to break through for her first win in her fifth season on tour. Must paid tribute to all of her supporters ,”I really have to thank both David Milne and Laurie Montague for everything they have done for me, as well as all of the staff at Wembley who have  supported me, and my “bestie” Candice High”

When Must is not playing on the ALPG tour she is busy teaching and working in the pro-shop at the Wembley Golf Complex in Perth Western Australia where she now resides.

There were also another couple of other battles being fought today at Yamba, with Victorian Stacey Keating in line for a bumper payday if all of the cards fell her way today. Keating had taken a slender 64 point lead over Kiwi Cathryn Bristow into the final event of the 2016 Club Car Series which meant that as long as she finished ahead of the other challengers the $6500 first place bonus would be hers.
Her second place finish ensured victory and Keating was delighted to have won the Club Car Series for the second time after her win three years ago.
“It means a lot to win the Club Car Series again, thanks so much to Kevin Gates and Club Car for the amazing support they give the ALPG and the players”
Though disappointed not to have won the series after leading for much of the season,  Bristow had the consolation of a $3500 cheque for second place.

The other sub-plot unfolding was for what has quickly been nicknamed the “McYamba Cup” by the players. McLeod Country Golf Club and Yamba Golf Club had together come up with a bonus of $5000 for the leading player across both events, and obviously it was going to take a big effort for one of the top finishers at the Brisbane International to get past Keating who had won 2 days earlier at McLeod.  
Tonje Daffinrud had made the contest very interesting when she signed for a 4 under par 69 following her tied 2nd place finish at the Brisbane International, but when Keating also signed for a 4 under par 69 the “McYamba Cup” was heading to Cressy in Victoria, Keating’s home town.
