Following on from a decision taken by the ALPG Board of Directors, the women who were responsible for founding women’s professional golf in Australia back in 1972 were honoured with Life Membership of the ALPG.
The group of pioneers, who founded the ALPG Tour in 1972 joined current ALPG members to celebrate the occasion at a ceremoney during the recent RACV Ladies Masters at RACV Royal Pines Resort.
Shani Waugh, ALPG President said that these brave women have paved the way for generations of Australian Professional Golfers who have followed their dream of playing golf as a profession,
“I doubt at the time our founders would have realised what they were developing for the women golfers who would follow them. The path would have looked decidedly different for our champion tour players like Karrie Webb, Rachel Hetherington, Jan Stephenson and co without their efforts. Thanks to these founding members we now enjoy a healthy few months of international strength tournament golf here in Australia every summer. The ALPG now boasts members who play, coach and administer golf which is reflective of the role the founders took on in 1972.”
The Founder Members who were honoured at a recent ceremony during the RACV Ladies Masters were;

Betty Dalgleish (Life Member)
