Miriam Nagl emerged as the winner of the Moss Vale Ladies Classic after victory on the 3rd playoff  hole, defeating Mexico’s Ana Menendez after the pair had finished the 36 hole event at 6 under par after.

Nagl shot at 4 under par 69 to add to her opening round 71, and faced an anxious wait in the clubhouse until Menendez, playing in the 3^rd to last group signed for a 2 under par 71 to match Nagl’s score of 6 under. Neither Sydney Cox or Ali Orchard could match the clubhouse target and the players headed to the 18th tee for a sudden death playoff!
Both players bogeyed the first playoff hole after driving into the trees, while on the second playoff hole both players made solid pars. After driving into the right hand rough on the third playoff hole, Menendez pulled her second shot left of the green and failed to get up and down, while Nagl was as solid as a rock hitting the green in regulation and safely 2 putting from 7 metres for the victory and the $4500 winners cheque.

It was Nagl’s first trip to Australia in more than 10 years, and she was delighted to walk away with her first professional win in 14 years on tour. “ I am so thankful to my family for supporting me and travelling all the way here with me” Nagl said speaking about her husband and baby daughter Laura.“ We set our goal this year to get to Rio to represent Brazil in the Olympics and this is the perfect start” Nagl’s win puts her in a great position to qualify for the ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open which will be held in Adelaide in the 3^rd week in February, which was her goal when she landed in Australia earlier this week.

Overnight leader Ali Orchard had a disappointing day, shooting a 5 over par 78 to finish in a tie for 15^th place.

The tour heads down the road to Mt Broughton Country Club for the 2016 Mt Broughton Ladies Classic, which is a 36 hole event starting tomorrow.
