Karrie Webb is looking forward to teeing it up at Trump Turnberry Resort for this week’s Ricoh Women’s British Open.

Back in 2002 Webb won this event at this very course.  The Queenslander finished at 15-under-par total and two strokes clear of fellow compatriot Michelle Ellis and Spain’s Paula Marti.

Webb is one of six Australians who have qualified for the fourth major of the LPGA season.  Joining Webb is last week’s winner of the Ladies Scottish Open, Rebecca Artis, Minjee Lee, Sarah Kemp, Su Oh and Stacey Keating.

Webb gets her campaign underway early Thursday morning local time at 7.25am.  Lee is the next out at 8.53am, while Artis is off at 9.36am.  Kemp, who made it into the field via the Marathon Classic, tees off at 10.43am.  Keating starts her campaign at 12.32, while the RACV Ladies Masters champion, Oh, is the last out at 1.38pm.

The defending champion is American Mo Martin, who striped a 3-wood from around 210 metres that hit the flagstick and came to rest just six feet from the hole on the par 5 18^th at Royal Birkdale to set up the biggest putt of her life.  Martin sank the eagle putt- then waited an hour before learning she was the champion.

Rolex World No.1 Inbee Park, 2013 RICOH Women’s British open champion Stacy Lewis and World No.2 Lydia Ko will be among those looking to dethrone Martin at the 72 hole event. 

Others to watch on the par 70 layout include Americans Brittany Lincicome, Lexi Thompson and Michelle Wie, Norwary’s Suzann Pettersen and China’s Shanshan Feng.

144 players will be vying got the title and their share of the US$3million purse.
