• LPGA in Virginia This Week

After a week off the LPGA, the players are ready to tee it up in the Kingsmill Championship presented by JTBC in Williamsburg Virginia.

Karrie Webb, who won the title back in 2006 will lead the way for the Australian contingent.  She is joined in the field by Sarah Kemp, who is the first Aussie to tee off at 7.26am local time on Thursday,  Friday morning Australia time.  Webb is next off at 8.10am, she is followed by Sarah Jane Smith and Katherine Kirk.  Smith and Kirk are also off in the morning wave.  Minjee Lee is only Aussie teeing off in the afternoon,

The defending champion this week is American Lizette Salas, who broke out at the 2014 Kingsmill Championship after four previous close calls. This year, the fourth-year player looks to channel her positive memories of her victory for a chance to repeat at Kingsmill for the first time since Cristie Kerr won her second and third championships in 2009 and 2013.

“You know, it’s a special feeling.” Salas said.  “And so when I’m walking around Kingsmill, I’m walking with my head up a little higher and I’m much more happier.”

The River Course at the Kingsmill Resort challenges the field of players, but Salas wants to keep her focus on the proven strategy that worked for her just one year ago.

“Just really trying to get dialled in on the right quadrant on the putting green,” Salas said. “My strategy last year was just fairways and greens and try to roll in as many putts as possible, really minimizing your mistakes, especially coming down 15, 16, 17, 18.”

Other players to watch this week are Rolex World No.1 Lydia Ko, American Stacy Lewis, Norway’s Suzann Pettersen and South Korean Inbee Park.

Watch the action live on FoxSports  at 6.30am Friday.
