Minister on Hand for Welcome Ceremony

The NSW Minister for Sport, Stuart Ayres was part of the 2015 Australia Classic official welcome ceremony today which took place prior to the pro-am teeing off at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.

During the opening ceremony the Minister hit the first tee shot, along with two other guests, in what is a traditional on the CLPGA.

“It is a wonderful opportunity for the China LPGA and ALPG, it is fantastic to be here.” Ayres said during his speech.

“It is a fantastic initiative, bringing two of the more established golf associations together here in Western Sydney, in what, I think, will be a landmark tournament and I hope it goes from strength to strength.”

“I wish all of the players in the tournament, good hitting and I hope you find the course in good condition.”

“There are some sensational golfers on display over the next four days and congratulations on putting together a fantastic tournament and good luck to everyone.”

The first round gets underway Friday at 8.30am, Rachel Hetherington gets her campaign underway at 8.41am. CLPGA star, Yanhong Pan, is paired with Whitney Hillier and Nikki Garrett and they tee off at 10.42am, while other ALPG favourites Stacey Keating and Rebecca Artis are off at 11.26am with Pavaisa Yoktuan.

Pan is loving her first trip down under, “It’s the first time in Sydney, I think I have fell in love with this city. The people and friends I met here are so nice and it makes me feel relax and cozy. I feel exciting to give my best on the course and also expect make good team with Howard from Twin Creeks. About the course, I would like to say it’s in good condition and the rough and green will be the challenge. I will focus on the course and we will see.”
