Could Artis Take Home First Australia Classic Title

New South Wales Rebecca Artis was in contention during the ALPG summer, now she is looking to finish off the ALPG season with a win of the 2015 Australia Classic this week.

The inaugural event, is the first co-sanctioned event between the ALPG and China LPGA, 25 ALPG members, 25 CLPGA and four sponsor invites.  The players will be vying for the title and their share of the $150,000 on offer.

Artis best finished during the season was runner-up at the Bing Lee Fujitsu Women’s NSW Open, she also finished tied for fourth at the Oates Victorian Open and was in the mix at the RACV Ladies Masters before finishing in the top 20.

“I`ve had a solid start to the 2015 season beginning here in Australia. Putting myself in contention nearly every week.  I always love playing at home here in Australia and look forward to coming home to play the events each year.  To get a win at any event here in Australia would be fabulous.”

“I love the concept of the event. Playing an event with no cut does take away a little bit of the pressure, but I wouldn`t say it makes it any easier. It is the top 25 girls from both tours so the strength of the field will be strong. You`ll will still have to play good golf with low scores to win.”

Artis has only practiced at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club,

“I have not had the opportunity to play Twin Creeks before, but I`ve only heard great things about the golf course.  I have been there to practice though and the practice facilities are fantastic from memory!”

Like all of the players, Artis thinks it is great to have a tournament co-sanctioned with the CLGA,

“It`s fantastic to see the two tours working together, creating more playing opportunities for girls on both tours.  It`s a great addition to the ALPG schedule!”

Play gets underway on Friday 17th April.
