Australian First
The ALPG and China LPGA associations are pleased to announce a first in Australian women’s professional golf, a co-sanctioned event between the two associations to be held in Australia.
The inaugural 2015 Australian Classic is being held at the magnificent Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club in Sydney from the 17 to 19 April. The tournament will see 25 players from the CLPGA fly to Sydney and compete against 25 ALPG players, along with four sponsor invites. The players will be competing for their share of the $150,000 on offer.
Karen Lunn, Executive Director, is thrilled to announce the new tournament and the association with the CLPGA.
“This is a landmark occasion for the ALPG, teaming up for the first time with the China LPGA Tour in a co-sanctioned event. The Chinese players are really making their mark on the world stage and the China LPGA Tour is growing rapidly and producing some outstanding young players. We look forward to a long and successful working relationship with the CLPGA and our hosts at the outstanding Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.”
Jennifer Lee, Executive Director of the China LPGA believes this tournament will strengthen the relationship between the Australian and China Golf Tours, a relationship that will help foster the development of Ladies Professional Golf in both countries.
Grant Martin, General Manager of Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club is very pleased that the club has been selected as the host venue for such a milestone event.
“We look forward to working with the China and Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tours to develop this event into one of Australia’s major Ladies Golf Tournaments. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase Twin Creeks Golf & Country Club on the global golfing stage, and place the spotlight on our world class facilities” said Grant Martin.
More information will be available in coming weeks.
