The major tournament on the 2015 ALPG tour tees off on Thursday with the Oates Victorian Open.

115 players from around the world will be vying to etch their name on the trophy come Sunday afternoon at the magnificent 13^th Beach Links.   This is unique event, where the professional men are also teeing it up alongside the women for the men’s Vic Open title.    

Two of the female professionals to watch will be England’s Dame Laura Davies, who is always a crowd favourite and young gun Victorian Su Oh.

Davies is looking forward to teeing it up as she enjoys this unique event as she stated today.

“I am really looking forward to it, I played a couple of pro-ams last week to get going.  I really enjoy the course and hope to hole some putts.”

“I like the concept the men and women playing at the same venue and even on the week-end intertwined, which is fun, good galleries and course it is excellent, cant really ask for much more.  The prizemoney has gone up which is very important to us.”

Whilst Davies is heading into her 30^th year as a professional, the 18-year-old Oh is teeing it up in her first four-day event as a professional.

Davies nominated Oh as one of the favourites heading into the tournament, “If you beat Su this week, I think you have a good chance of winning.”

Oh played in the Pro-am today was asked about how her preparations were going leading into her first major tournament as a pro,

“I am feeling pretty good, I played alright at the first two pro-ams that I played in at Castle Hill and Pennant Hills, so it is very different here, it is going to be windy, have to play different shots, but I am really looking forward to the week.”

Oh, Davies and 2013 champion Stacey Keating will some of the women players to watch out for this week.

The increased support of the State Government has seen the purse grow from $150,000 last year to $250,000, which is fantastic for the tournament and a testament to Golf Victoria hard work.
