Aussie Minjee Lee is focusing on enjoying every moment when she tees it up this Thursday, Australian time, in her first event on the LPGA tour in 2015.
The 2015 LPGA season tees off on Wednesday, local time, in Florida, with the inaugural Coates Golf Championship Presented by R&L Carries being played at the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club. 120 players will be vying for their share of the US$1.5 million on offer.
Lee is joined in the field by fellow compatriots Karrie Webb, Katherine Kirk, Sarah Jane Smith and Sarah Kemp. All five will be looking to get their 2015 season off to a flying start in the new event.
For the 18-year-old from Perth, it is her first event after sharing medallist honours in last December Q-School.
Lee took time over Christmas to spend time with her family and friends. “I have a very good Christmas and New Year, I had a fun time visiting family in Korea and then had some time back at home in Perth.”
Lee picked up her clubs two and a half weeks before flying out to the States last week and is looking forward to starting her LPGA career.
“I’m very excited to start the year as a touring pro, especially because of the opportunity to start on the LPGA this week.”
Her goals are simply for this week, “Since it is the first event, I will try to concentrate on every shot and even though there maybe some rust, have a good attitude and most importantly enjoy event moment.”
Nine out of the top 10 players from the 2014 money list are teeing it up including the top three players on the Rolex World Rankings, Inbee Park, Lydia Ko and Stacy Lewis.
