Club Car Series moves to Queensland
The 2015 Club Car Series moves to Queensland for the first time in the Series’ history with the McLeod ALPG Pro-am.
The inaugural McLeod ALPG Pro-am is being played at the McLeod Country Club at Mount Ommaney in Brisbane on the 12th and 13th January. The first day, Monday, is ambrose with major sponsors, while Tuesday is when the scoring will count for the professionals.
A high calibre field of 49 ALPG and international players are competing for the $30,000 on offer. The majority of the players are Australians, however we also have players from New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark, USA, Canada and the Cook Islands in the field, which is fantastic for the event and our tour.
NSW’s Nikki Garrett, who now lives in Brisbane with her fiancé Frank Barrett, will be the favourite heading into Tuesday. Garrett fired a flawless round of five-under-par 68 to win the BWAC Yamba Pro-am. Other players to show early season form were Ireland’s Rebecca Codd and Ipswich player Bree Arthur and NSW, reigning Club Car Series Champion Sarah Kemp.
NSW’s Rachel Hetherington will be one of the players others will be watching. After playing her first competitive round on the ALPG in five years in Yamba, the eight-time LPGA winner will be looking to continue to move up the leaderboard.
Other Queenslanders that will be looking to add an ALPG Victory in their own State include Ashley Ona, Tamara Johns, Ellen Davies-Graham, Katelyn Must, Alexandria Orchard, Jennifer Ray and Ashleigh Blacksell.
All eligible players will be looking to get off to a flying start in the Club Car Series. The player with the greatest number of points at the conclusion of the Bing Lee Fujitsu General Women’s NSW Open will take a cheque for $6,500.
