Su Oh Climbs up the Leaderboard at Q-School
Aussie Su Oh has charged up the leaderboard and into the top 15 at the conclusion of the second round of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament in Florida.
Oh, who recently turned professional, fired an impressive three-under-par, 69, on the Jones course to go with her opening round of even par on the Hills course at LPGA International. Oh started the day tied for 46th position has jumped up into a share of 13th position and right in the mix to secure her “full” card for 2015 season.
American Casey Grice (69) and South Korean Ju Young Park (68), sister of LPGA star Hee Young Park share the lead at nine-under-par. The pair is being chased by Germany’s Sophia Popov (67), Canadian Samantha Richdale (66) and Americans Elizabeth Nagel (69) and Ryann O’Toole (70) who are all two shots adrift at seven-under-par.
Of the other eight Australians, Minjee Lee (71) is tied for 30th place. Victorian Breanna Elliott (73) and NSW’s Emma de Groot (69) are at one-over-par and share 48th position. Maggie Yuan carded a 74 to be a shot further back and tied for 65th.
WA’s Jayne Panos improved by five shots in round 2, she posted a 71 to move up into a tie for 80th place at three-over-par. NSW Rebecca Artis (75) is a further stroke back and tied for 95th place. It wasn’t a good day for NSW’s Julia Boland, having started the day tied for 24th she has slipped well back into a share of 116th position at six-over-par with a 79. At seven-over and tied for 122th position is Stacey Keating after a second round of 76.
New Zealand’s Liv Cheng is well back in a share of 151st position at 13-over.
Other notables in the field, England’s Charlie Hull shot a 2nd round 69 to get back to even par and a share of 39th position, while Ladies Masters champion Cheyenne Woods followed up her opening round of 68 with a disappointing 79 to leave her in 80th place,
The final stage is played over 90 holes. There will be a 72-hole cut after play on Saturday local time. The top 70 plus ties will tee off in the fifth and final round.
Players are competing for 20 “full” LPGA cards (Category 12) and 25 partial, “conditional cards” (Category 17).
