Sixty three players are set to tee off today in round one of the 2013 The Vintage Pro-am today with South Australia Stephanie Na’s group hitting the first shot at 6:30am. Following a week of extreme heat in the Hunter Valley district, cool conditions are forecast for round one.
Players participated in a Nearest the Pin Shooutout late Sunday afternoon where local business the Royal Federal Hotel Branxton shouted $1000 prizemoney for the two nearest shots. Rookie Breanna Elliott took home the $750 first place after hitting her shot to 27cm. Local Polly Goldman secured second place $250 with an approach to 47cm.
A field of 216 amateurs and professionals will play the 36 hole event at the magnificent The Vintage venue which is playing host to the first event on the 2013 ALPG Tour schedule. A quality field comprising 21 international players from countries including England, Sweden, United States, Spain, South Korea New Zealand France and Denmark will compete for $30,000 in prizemoney. Among the favourites are leading Australians Stacey Keating, Bree Arthur, Breanne Elliott, Kristie Smith, Julia Boland Sarah-Jane Smith and Sarah Kemp. They will face strong competition from leading internationals Laura Davies, Joanna Klatten and Esther Choe.
