Park Continues to Lead, Kirk Falls Back
Park has fired rounds of 66, 66 and 68 on the par 71 Blythefield Country Club layout to sit atop of the leaderboard at 13-under-par. The South Korean holds a one stroke advantage over LPGA rookie and fellow compatriot Mirim Lee (67). Lurking just two back is Norway’s Suzann Pettersen after she signed for a 69 on Saturday.
The top three have a gap on the rest of the field. Denmark’s Line Vedel (68) is outright fourth at 8-under-par, while Beatriz Recari (67) and Japan’s Haru Nomura (69) are a further shot back. Five players are at six-under including American Paula Creamer (68) and South African Lee-Anne Pace (67).
It wasn’t a great day Australian Katherine Kirk. The Queenslander started the day in a share of 5th position and got off to a promising start with a birdie at the par 3 second hole to move to six-under-par. A bogey on the 7th hole meant she went out in even par. However, another three bogeys on the 10th, 13th and 16th holes saw her drop back to two-under. She turned it around on the 17th with a birdie to sign for a two-over-par 73 and currently is tied for 18th.
Fellow compatriot Karrie Webb posted another 70 on Saturday, which included three birdies on the front nine and two bogeys on the back. Webb is at two-under-par and shares 23rd position. Lindsey Wright had the best round of the Australians today, she posted a two-under-par 69 to move into a tie for 34th position at even par.
In some other news to come out of today, US Open champion, Michelle Wie, will be out for the next 3 to 5 weeks with a finger injury.
