Caroline Masson has maintained her position at the top of the leaderboard at the halfway mark of the North Texas LPGA Shootout in Irving Texas.

The German leads at seven-under-par after an even par round of 71 on Friday. Masson did get it to three under for her round thru 12 holes after posting four birdies and one bogey. However, she found the water off the tee at the par 4 15th, which resulted in a bogey. She then bogeyed the 16th and the 18th holes to finish at even par.

“I didn`t play as good as yesterday, but I expected that after that round yesterday,” Masson said. “So I was off to a good start with a birdie on one, which was really nice. And it calmed me down a little bit, and after that I just made a few good pars, but I also made some good putts for birdie. The last few -- yeah, that was just some bad shots on the last few holes, but still I think, yeah a round of level par is never bad, you know. And especially in that situation. So I`m just looking forward to the weekend.”

The LPGA rookie is leading fellow rookie Spaniard Carlota Ciganda (70) by one shot, with Rolex World No. 1 Inbee Park (70), Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn (66) and American Kathleen Ekey (67) sharing third position at five-under-par. Another five players are at four-under and right in contention including former world no.1 Yani Tseng.

Australian Lindsey Wright posted a two-under-par 69 to move to even par and tied for 36th position. The Victorian is the leading Australian and will play with Americans Paula Creamer and Stacy Lewis in the third round.

Queensland’s Sarah Jane Smith was the only other Aussie to make the third round, Smith is at three-over, which was the cut number, after a one-over 72. 80 players will contest the third round. At the conclusion of the third round another cut will be made, to the top 50 and ties.

Unfortunately New South Wales’ Sarah Kemp posted a four-over-par 75 to miss the cut by one shot. Julia Boland posted a 75 to finish at six-over par, while Katherine Hull-Kirk was five shots better in her second round, but still finished at seven-over-par.
