• Kirk Leads Aussie charge in Texas

Katherine Kirk looks to continue her run of solid form over the last few weeks as she heads the Australian charge in Dallas at the North Texas LPGA Shootout. Kirk had her first top 10 finish of 2014 at the windswept Ko Olina course in Hawaii 2 weeks ago. With some breezy conditions forecast again this week, it would be no surprise to see the 2 time LPGA winners name back on the leader board come Sunday.

Karrie Webb, Lydia Ko, Ana Nordqvist and Paula Creamer, all winners on the LPGA Tour in 2014 are taking the week off, which is sure to please many in the field considering their stellar early season form. Lydia Ko’s win last week in San Francisco took her to no. 2 on the Rolex Rankings and the World Number 1 and defending champion this week Inbee Park may spend the next few weeks looking over her shoulder for Ko closing in her rear view mirror.

In 2013, Park (no.1) showed why she is the best player in the world, capturing her third victory of the season at this event. Park drained a 4-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to fire a 4-under 67 and defeat Spaniard Carlota Ciganda by one stroke for her sixth career LPGA Tour victory. A win on the Ladies European Tour in China in March this year along with six top 10 finishes on the LPGA in 2014 points to Park again being a force to be reckoned with this week. Stacy Lewis, who spent much of her childhood growing up in Texas is many people’s tip to win this week. Though Lewis hasn’t been in the winner’s circle yet in 2014 she boasts seven top 6 finishes from eight starts so far and it only seems a matter of time before she breaks through again.

All four rounds will be broadcast live in Australia on Foxsports. Day 1 coverage starts from 2:30am Friday 2nd May on Foxsports 3.
