Hee Young Park has catapulted to the top of the leaderboard with an incredible flawless round of 10-under-par 61 at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic being played at the Grey Silo Golf Course in Waterloo, Ontario Canada.
The talented South Korean, who started the day at 10-under, and five shots off the lead, went out in four-under, 32, with two birdies and an eagle on the par 5 6th. She then went on a birdie blitz on the back nine. It started with consecutive birdies on the 10th and 11th holes, before another on 13th and then again on the 15th holes before finishing with two more.
Park, who is known as a pure ball striker, had everything going, particularly the putter, she hit 16 of 18 greens but only needed 24 putts. Rounds of 65, 67 and 61 sees Park on top at 20-under-par.
Tomorrow Park will be looking to secure her second LPGA title of her career. American Angela Stanford and Scotland Catriona Matthew will be leading the chase. Stanford (64) is just one back while Matthew, who has been at the top of the leaderboard for the first two rounds, is at 18-under-par after a three-under-par 68 on Saturday.
South Korean Meena Lee and Swede Anna Nordqvist are not out of it either. Lee at 17-under-par and Nordqvist at 15-under-par are within strike if they can go low.
Rolex Rankings World No. 1 Inbee Park, who is eyeing for her fourth consecutive win on the LPGA, carded a three-under-par 68 to be seven shots back.
The two Australian who made the cut couldn’t get it going and are well back. Both Karrie Webb and Julia Boland posted even par rounds of 71 and they both had three birdies and three bogeys.
Webb is tied for 56th at four-under-par, while Boland is tied for 58th at three-under-par.
