China’s Shanshan Feng eagled the last hole to win the inaugural Reignwood LPGA Classic in her home country.

It was a very good week for Australia’s number 1 player, Karrie Webb. With rounds of 70, 64, 64 and 68 on the par 73 layout at the Pine Valley Golf Club, the current Rolex World No. 7 finished at 20-under-par and outright fourth. Webb took home a cheque for US$92,618.

It was Feng’s second LPGA victory, with her first coming last year at the Wegman’s LPGA Championship. This was a very special win for the 24-year-old who started the day one shot ahead of American Stacy Lewis.

Lewis and Feng went head to head all day. Lewis posted four birdies on the outward nine to be at 24-under-par, while Feng could only manage two birdies. With nine to play, the American had a one shot advantage.

Both players posted two birdies and bogey in the first eight holes on the back nine, allowing Lewis to maintain a one shot lead with one hole to play. It all came down to the last hole, Feng was able to eagle the par 5 to leap over Lewis and capture the title.

Feng finished at 26-under-par after rounds of 70, 64, 64 and 68 and took home the winner cheque of $270,000.

Rolex World No. 1 Inbee Park finished outright third at 21-under-par, with Webb fourth. South Korean Na Yeon Choi finished in fifth position four shots behind Webb.

Of the three remaining Australians in the firls, Katherine Hull-Kirk was the next best placed. Hulll-Kirk (74) finished at four-under-par and tied for 37th. Victorian Lindsey Wright (72) was a further shot back and tied for 42nd position. Sarah Jane Smith (71) finished at two-under and in a share of 45th place.

The next event on the LPGA schedule is the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, from 10 to 13 October. Karrie Webb and Katherine Hull-Kirk are the only Aussies teeing it up.
