Golf Australia Rookie Squad member Breanna Elliott and Queenslander Courtney Massey are the two Australians competing in this week`s Symetra Tour Championship Presented by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Both players have enjoyed positive seasons with Elliott also holding conditional LPGA Tour status.
Massey has moved up nearly 250 places on the Rolex World Rankings since January while Elliott has jumped nearly 100 places.
Held on the Champions Course at LPGA International at Daytona Beach, the Tour Championship hosts the Volvik Race for the Card final.
The Volvik Race for the Card spotlights movement on the Tour’s 2013 season money list as players jockey for position among the top-10 money winners.
This year marks the second year 10 players will receive fully-exempt status on next year’s LPGA Tour.
This year’s Race has experienced its fair share of changes as only one player has been inside the top-10 all 14 weeks. There have also been four different players ranked No. 1 in the Race and Thailand`s P.K. Kongkraphan is currently holding the top spot with one event remaining.
This year’s graduating class will be awarded with their 2014 LPGA Tour cards at the conclusion of play on Sunday.
Beginning in 1999, The Symetra Tour annually awards LPGA membership to its top players on each official season money list. This year marks the second season that the top-10 money winners will receive full, equal status for the following season on the LPGA Tour.
With more than 500 alumnae including Lorena Ochoa, Cristie Kerr, and last year’s Rolex Player of the Year Stacy Lewis moving on to the LPGA, former Symetra Tour players have won a total of 371 LPGA titles, including 40 major championships.
