• Club Car Series Winner

Rising star Stacey Keating capped off a dream week, icing the Victorian Open Championship cake with a come from behind win in the ALPG Tour’s 2013 Club Car Series. Keating’s win at the season ending Victorian Open Championship catapulted her to the top of the Club Car Series Points Table adding a bonus $6,500 to her 2013 winnings.

A win at the 13th Beach Links, Sunday, brought with it 900 bonus points, enough for Keating to overtake Emma de Groot who came into the week with a lead of 650 points. Despite a strong Sunday finish which saw her finish in 16th position, De Groot earned just 150 points and overall had to settle for second place in the Club Car Series, eventually finishing 140 points behind Keating.

A two time winner on the Ladies European Tour in 2012, Keating’s game has gone from strength to strength in recent months and she proved that consistency was the key to accumulating Club Car Series points. A win at the season opening The Vintage Pro-am was followed by top ten results at four of the five events entered, culminating in last week’s stellar performance at her home state championship.

In accepting the winner’s trophy from Noel Woodward, Club Car Sales Manager, Victoria, Keating said the Club Car Series provided a great incentive to all players.

“It is always in the back of your mind and I think it is a great initiative which gives us added reason to play well and play consistently throughout the ALPG Tour events. We are very lucky and also very grateful to Club Car for their continued support of the ALPG Tour and I want to thank Kevin Gates, in particular, for his long time support.”

Coffs Harbour’s De Groot will head to the 2013 Symetra Tour (US) full of confidence following a successful and consistent performance on the ALPG Tour over the past six weeks. Her consistent form resulted in a win at the Antill Park Pro-Am along with three additional top ten finishes.

Queenslander Bree Arthur finished in 3rd position on the points table with rookie Whitney Hillier, WA’s Kristie Smith and Frenchwoman Joanna Klatten completing the top six.

The Club Car Series awards points the leading ten eligible players (who play a minimum four events) in each of the five designated fixtures on the 2013 ALPG Tour. The leading six players following the Women’s Victorian Open share the bonus pool.
