Australian Ladies Professional Golf today announces the Next Generation Club, a program aimed at connecting with amateur girls that aspire to be or are considering a career as a professional golfer. The Club will provide education, professional golf pathway advice and mentoring offered through the knowledge and experience of ALPG and its members.
The club is open to any female amateur golfers with a handicap limit of 13 with no age restriction.
Among the many benefits of the club membership is an invitation to an annual camp experience with ALPG members. Club members will benefit from a true professional golf tournament experience, forums and information sessions conducted by the program mentors.
Cobra Puma Golf, who recently aligned with ALPG, is acknowledged as a main supporter and sponsor of the program.
Shani Waugh, ALPG President and former LPGA and LET touring professional commented, “The Next Generation Club is a wonderful initiative generating a ‘give back’ culture from the ALPG’s experienced and successful touring professionals. I was on the Tour for 17 years and I know if this support had been around when I took the plunge into the professional ranks it would have fast-tracked my performances considerably. I am excited that ALPG are in a position to provide guidance and advice to the new generation of players coming up and I know that it will be an invaluable initiative for both partiesâ€.
Warren Sevil, Chief Executive Officer of ALPG added,†We are excited about this new venture as it is our first program designed to do our bit to work with the potential stars who are the future of women’s golf. We are delighted that in our initial stages, our members have been very supportive and we will work together to boost the pipeline of budding women golf professionalsâ€.
ALPG members Karrie Webb, Rachel Hetherington, Karen Lunn, Lindsey Wright and Nikki Campbell are among others that have voiced their support for the program and will come on board as mentors in the club.
The Next Generation Club aligns with Australia’s vision of sports performance excellence for amateur players. The Club’s objective is to complement existing high performance programs in place at state and national level.
